Can Work Pass holders drive on public roads for work?

Work Pass holders are permitted to drive on Singapore roads for work under the following conditions:

  1. Work Permit (WP) holders in the Process, Construction, or Marine shipyard sectors:
    • They must possess a valid driving license recognized by the Traffic Police.
    • They must be engaged in driving-related occupations such as “Lorry/Truck Driver,” “Driver,” or “Worker-cum-Driver.”
  2. WP holders in the Manufacturing sector:
    • They must hold a valid driving license recognized by the Traffic Police.
    • Driving must be necessary for their work.
    • Driving should be in accordance with the occupation specified on their Work Permit.
  3. WP holders in the Services sector:
    • They must have a valid driving license recognized by the Traffic Police.
    • They are allowed to drive as part of the Job Flexibility Scheme, which enables them to perform multiple tasks within similar skill-based occupations or as part of the same business activity.
    • Holding a driving-related occupation is not a requirement.

Note: Employers are advised to exercise sensible and reasonable use of job flexibility.

  1. S Pass holders:
    • They must possess a valid driving license recognized by the Traffic Police.
    • Driving should be necessary for their work.
    • Driving should be in accordance with the occupation specified on their S Pass.
  2. Employment Pass (EP) holders:
    • They must hold a valid driving license recognized by the Traffic Police.
    • There are no occupational restrictions regarding driving.

Please note that all Work Pass holders must comply with the applicable regulations and requirements set by the Traffic Police.
