The Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) announced on Thursday (July 25) that the ICA Services Centre will only be open on weekdays starting September 2. Currently, the centre, located at the ICA Building near Lavender MRT station, operates on Saturdays from 8 am to 12:30 pm and on weekdays from 8 am to 4:30 pm.

This change is due to a significant decline in physical visits, which have decreased by about 50% from 2019 to 2023. According to ICA, 95% of customers now use online services. The decrease in physical visits is attributed to the online availability of various services, including the processing of birth and death certificates (since May 2022) and long-term passes like the Long-Term Visit Pass and Student’s Pass (since February 2023).

Customers can access these digital documents through the MyICA mobile app, MyICA e-service on the ICA website, My Legacy Portal, and FileSG. However, passports and identity cards still need to be collected in person at the ICA Services Centre or designated post offices. All post offices are open on Saturdays, with some operating on Sundays. According to ICA, nearly 70% of passports and identity cards are collected at these designated SingPost outlets.
