Upon arrival in Singapore, your passport will receive a Visit Pass indicating the end date of your permitted stay. Typically, this grants you a 30-day period, after which you are required to depart the country. However, the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority offers the option to apply for a one-time extension of stay for an additional 30 days (referred to as an extension of a short-term Visit Pass).

Eligibility for Extension of Stay

You are eligible to apply for an extension of stay if you meet the following criteria:
– You seek to prolong your stay by up to 30 days from your entry date into Singapore.
– Your Visit Pass (as indicated on the electronic arrival card) has a remaining validity of at least 5 working days from the date of submission. It is advisable to submit your application between the 15th and 20th day of your stay in Singapore, ensuring sufficient time for processing.

Unfortunately, nationals of certain countries are unable to apply for the online extension of stay. Citizens from Afghanistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kosovo, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, and Yemen must make their application in person at the ICA Building.

Requirements for Extension of Stay

To apply for an extension of stay in Singapore, you must:
– Provide a copy of your passport and electronic arrival card.
– Have the local sponsor submit the application via the ICA portal.

The processing time for the application typically ranges from 1 to 3 working days. You can monitor the status of your application through the ICA portal. It is important to note that approval of the extension is not guaranteed, and refusals may occur. In case of refusal, applicants have the option to appeal to the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority. An appeal must be made in person, and the applicant and local sponsor must present themselves, along with any supporting documents, at the Visitor Services Centre in the ICA Building. The local sponsor must be a Citizen of Singapore or a Singapore Permanent Resident who is at least 21 years old and possesses a SingPass account.
