EP Salary by Age in Singapore: 2026 and 2027 Tables for EP and S Pass

Professional in a suit working at a computer desk, illustrating EP salary by age requirements in Singapore

Short answer: Under MOM’s current rules, an Employment Pass candidate aged 25 needs a fixed monthly salary of at least S$6,064, and one aged 35 needs S$8,382. For new applications from 1 January 2027, those minimums rise to S$6,500 and S$9,000. The S Pass minimum at age 35 moves from S$4,118 to S$4,418.

Key facts at a glance

  • The EP qualifying salary is Stage 1 of MOM’s two-stage EP test. It rises progressively with age from 23 and tops out at age 45 (MOM, as at 11 October 2026).
  • EP, all sectors except financial services: S$5,600 now (S$10,700 at age 45 and above), rising to S$6,000 (S$11,500 at age 45 and above) for new applications from 1 January 2027.
  • EP, financial services: S$6,200 now (S$11,800 at 45 and above), rising to S$6,600 (S$12,700 at 45 and above) from 1 January 2027.
  • S Pass, all sectors except financial services: S$3,300 now (S$4,800 at 45 and above), rising to S$3,600 (S$5,100 at 45 and above) from 1 January 2027.
  • The new figures apply to new applications from 1 January 2027 and to renewals of passes expiring from 1 January 2028. Renewals of passes expiring before 1 January 2028 stay on the current table.
  • Meeting the qualifying salary is necessary but not enough: EP candidates must also pass COMPASS (40 points) unless exempt.

What is the EP salary by age in Singapore?

The EP salary by age is the minimum fixed monthly salary a candidate must earn to be considered for an Employment Pass. MOM benchmarks it to the top one-third of local PMET salaries by age, so the bar climbs each year of age from 23 until it flattens at 45.

Candidates who fall below the figure for their age and sector are not eligible, however many COMPASS points they would otherwise score. MOM states this directly on its Employment Pass eligibility page (last updated 28 April 2026). Employers and agents can test a case on MOM’s Self-Assessment Tool before filing.

Which table applies to my application: 2026 or 2027?

The date of the application, and for renewals the pass expiry date, decides the table. Today, 11 October 2026, the current table governs every new submission. The 2027 table is not yet in force.

  1. New applications submitted before 1 January 2027 use the current table.
  2. New applications submitted from 1 January 2027 use the 2027 table.
  3. Renewals of passes expiring before 1 January 2028 use the current table.
  4. Renewals of passes expiring from 1 January 2028 use the 2027 table.

This is why a pass holder hired in 2026 can renew in 2027 on the older figure, while a colleague hired in January 2027 starts on the higher one. Source: MOM, as at 11 October 2026.

What is the S Pass minimum salary by age?

The S Pass uses the same logic, benchmarked to the top one-third of local associate professionals and technicians. The 2027 table applies to S Pass applications submitted from 1 January 2027 and to renewals of passes expiring from 1 January 2028. Figures below are for all sectors except financial services.

Age Current From 1 Jan 2027
23 or below S$3,300 S$3,600
25 S$3,436 S$3,736
28 S$3,641 S$3,941
30 S$3,777 S$4,077
33 S$3,982 S$4,282
35 S$4,118 S$4,418
38 S$4,323 S$4,623
40 S$4,459 S$4,759
43 S$4,664 S$4,964
45 or above S$4,800 S$5,100

The table shows selected ages; MOM’s S Pass eligibility page lists every age from 23 to 45, and the figure rises by about S$68 a year before 2027 and about S$68 a year after. For financial services, the S Pass minimum is S$3,800 now (S$5,650 at 45 and above), moving to S$4,000 from 1 January 2027, and MOM’s page shows the full age ladder. Worked examples at ages 25, 35 and 45

Three quick cases show the jump for a general-sector employer. Each assumes the candidate meets the other conditions.

Candidate age EP minimum now EP minimum from 1 Jan 2027 Increase
25 S$6,064 S$6,500 S$436 a month
35 S$8,382 S$9,000 S$618 a month
45 S$10,700 S$11,500 S$800 a month

For an S Pass at the same ages, the minimum moves from S$3,436 to S$3,736 at age 25, from S$4,118 to S$4,418 at age 35, and from S$4,800 to S$5,100 at age 45. The S Pass step-up is S$300 at each of those ages.

The practical lesson for an employer is to price the offer against the table for the date the application will be submitted, not the date the offer letter is signed. An offer that clears the bar in December 2026 may fail the same test in January 2027.

Is meeting the qualifying salary enough to get an EP?

No. The qualifying salary is Stage 1. Stage 2 is COMPASS, a points-based test in which an application needs 40 points. The criteria include the candidate’s salary against local benchmarks in the sector (C1), qualifications (C2), the diversity of the employer’s PMET workforce (C3) and support for local employment (C4), plus bonus points for shortage occupations and strategic economic priorities.

Candidates are exempt from COMPASS if their fixed monthly salary is at least S$22,500, if they are overseas intra-corporate transferees, or if the role lasts one month or less. The COMPASS C1 salary benchmark is a separate, higher yardstick than the qualifying salary, so a candidate can clear Stage 1 and still score zero on C1. Source: MOM, as at 11 October 2026.

What does the salary mean for family passes and renewals?

Salary thresholds also drive family eligibility. MOM’s current rule is that an EP or S Pass holder earning a fixed monthly salary of at least S$6,000 can apply for a Dependant’s Pass for a legally married spouse and unmarried children under 21. For more on who can join you, see our guide on which work passes allow a spouse to join you.

For renewals, check the expiry date of the pass first. A pass expiring in late 2027 renews on the current table, while one expiring from 1 January 2028 renews on the 2027 table, so a pay review before renewal can prevent a last-minute shortfall. Our Employment Pass renewal walkthrough covers the filing steps, and the S Pass guide for 2026 covers quota and levy alongside salary.

What should employers do before 1 January 2027?

  1. List every EP and S Pass holder with the pass expiry date and current fixed monthly salary.
  2. Mark passes expiring from 1 January 2028; these will be tested on the 2027 table at renewal.
  3. Re-price any open offers that will be submitted on or after 1 January 2027.
  4. Decide whether to file before the cut-off, bearing in mind that MOM assesses each case on its facts and that COMPASS still applies.
  5. Run each candidate through MOM’s Self-Assessment Tool and keep the printout with the application file.

Fixed monthly salary has a specific meaning under MOM’s rules, so confirm what counts before you rely on a package. MOM also notes that an S Pass candidate who passes the Self-Assessment Tool has around a 90% chance of approval, which is a reminder that the tool is a screen and not a guarantee.

Frequently asked questions

Does the qualifying salary rise every year of age?

Yes, from age 23 to 44 the figure steps up each year, and it stays flat from age 45. For a general-sector EP the step is about S$232 a month before 2027 and S$250 a month after.

Which sector column applies to a bank or an insurer?

Financial services employers use the higher schedule. MOM publishes a guide to the sector definition, and employers should check it before choosing a column.

If my pass expires in 2027, which table applies at renewal?

The current table applies to renewals of passes expiring before 1 January 2028. The 2027 table applies to renewals of passes expiring from 1 January 2028.

Can a high COMPASS score make up for a low salary?

No. MOM states that candidates who do not meet the EP qualifying salary are not eligible, regardless of COMPASS points.

Where can I check a specific age and salary?

Use MOM’s Self-Assessment Tool, which applies the current rules, and the tables on MOM’s Employment Pass and S Pass eligibility pages.
